Shop in Helsinki

Gallery Bulevardi 7 and Design & Art Management Finland have made an agreement on the distributorship of Modern Historic 1900 – Collection.

Modern Historic 1900 – Collection and the accompanying book “Furniture of the Finnish masters – stories, tales and atmospheres” illustrating the collection, originate in similar passion and willpower to what is behind the greatest achievements in design.

Both the collection and the book came into being by the efforts of Mr Antti J. Kallio and they represent a collection of Finnish furniture with background tales that differ from most usually told. “I have always had an almost childlike belief in the idea that the creative drive of people engaged mainly in the field of art can also manifest itself in something beyond their first love – why not in designing furniture?”, says Mr Kallio.

Modern Historic 1900 – Collection includes furniture that has never been produced previously. Now these numbered pieces of furniture produced to order will be for sale in the heart of Helsinki – the Boulevard.

The selected designers of the collection are masters with great reputation: Akseli Gallen-Kallela, Jean Sibelius, Aulis Bolmstedt, Oiva Kallio, Kimmo Kaivanto, Timo Sarpaneva, Kimmo Pyykkö, Yrjö Kukkapuro, Eero Aarnio and Björn Weckström.

“We are very proud to be able to present the unique pieces of furniture designed by our national masters. This furniture adds significantly to the concept of Finnish Design. We are convinced that we will attract buyers and collectors also from abroad and thus export will have our special focus”, says the owner of Gallery Bulevardi 7, Mr Jarmo Haapalainen. He continues: “We are now able to offer high-end furniture to our quality-conscious customers who treasure the history of Finnish design and we believe that these extraordinary pieces will become design icons to Finland’s already internationally recognized reputation in design”.

The opening will be on 17 January, 2013 at 18 in Gallery Bulevardi 7.
